More of a coffee table book than helpful guide In looking through this book with a female friend of mine, we encountered the page on the girl-on-top Cowgirl position, which stated "The Cowgirl is by far the most conducive to female orgasms, and many women can only orgasm in this position." Her response was golden: "So what, the rest of this book is just for men?"My friend's response is emblematic of the weakness, or at very least missed opportunity, in this book. While the 90 or so positions are categorized by various functions or purposes, it generally feels like an unconnected encyclopedia of positions rather than something to help you easily identify and put to use positions to help enrich your love life. Some issues with the book:- If you want to find a position to help meet some sort of objective such as more clitoral stimulation, you'll have to just read through every position and look for random references to this, there's nothing to guide you through or point you in the right direction.- Sometimes different sections of a description of a single position will contradict each other. The "Spread Eagle" position is listed as a 1 out of 5 (lowest) in difficulty, yet it also says that it's uncomfortable for men who may get neck cramps and not be able to stay there long. If a position makes it too hard to get the basic job done, shouldn't it be rated as difficult?- Within each section, the positions are listed alphabetically by name, instead of being arranged in a more logical order such as positions that can follow from one another. The chapter on Missionary Positions bounces from lying to standing to sitting, rather than doing something like showing which positions a couple can seamlessly transition to from standard missionary in order to spice things up.- In the final section of "Fifty Shades of Hot" you'd expect to see some spicier / more advanced positions. Instead there are simply five very basic positions that could have been listed in any other section. All in all, this book does the job of showing you many sex positions, so I'll give it 3 stars for getting the basic job done. But to pay for a book on sex positions, I expect more than what I could find for free in a list online.I like the book I like the book, I like the pictures, but I would rather have it graphic art instead of actual people and showing more graphic stuff with more details to help knowing how to do the positions. The size of the book is just adorable.Expected more detail This is an average book, won't change your sex life much. You will find better books in amazon on the subject or just search online for free information.

A deck of 55 mindfulness games for kids that takes a playful approach to developing attention and focus, and identifying and regulating emotions--by the author of Mindful Games and The Mindful Child.

Playing games is a great way for kids to develop their focusing and attention skills and to become more mindful. This card deck helps parents, caregivers, and teachers cultivate these qualities at home or in a school setting. The games develop what Susan Kaiser Greenland calls the "new A, B, C's" for learning and for a happy and successful life: Attention, Balance, and Compassion. In a playful way, the games introduce kids to breathing practices and techniques for developing focus, concentration, and sensory awareness, and identifying and self-regulating emotions, among other skills. They include "anchor" games that develop concentration; visualization games that encourage kindness and focus; analytical games that cultivate clear thinking; and awareness games that develop all of these qualities and give greater insight into ourselves, others, and relationships. The deck contains 55 5X7 illustrated cards, each devoted to one game or activity, and comes in a sturdy, beautifully designed box.

After his friend is killed during a botched mission, the mercenary Kefier is chased down by former associates for the crime. Already once branded a murderer, fate seems to continue to frown on him when he comes face-to-face with his friend's sister: Sume, a young woman reeling from her own string of bad luck. As one flees from the past and the other runs to it, they find themselves embroiled in a plot to restore a magical beast to life using children as sustenance.

In the meantime, the young, arrogant merchant Ylir takes a special interest in Kefier while he battles with a powerful mage, one whose name has been long forgotten in legend. At the crux of their conflict is that same, terrible creature with one eye, cast from the womb of a witch, with powers so immense whoever possesses it holds the key to bring the continent to its knees.

A character-driven slice-of-life epic fantasy following the footsteps of Robin Hobb. Come and discover K.S. Villoso's debut fantasy series, which has been called "ambitious," "remarkably solid," and "expertly set up."

Epic and intimate, a phenomenal trilogy. Incredibly immersive fantasy with an underpinning of horror. The world feels like a real place, somewhere being related rather than envisioned, and the characters likewise feel like real people whose lives the reader is glimpsing. The plot is incredibly dense, but this is a book to be savored, about relationships and dealings within a fascinating and extremely original fantasy world populated with interesting people, cultures, and dangerous creatures. The giant Rube Goldberg machine of a narrative hits a level of emotional intensity at the end of Aina's Breath that doesn't loosen its grip for the entirety of the final book. The groundwork for the immersive world set in the first book, and the complex machinations and character development of the second all come around to make Sapphire's Flight a complete, epic experience that weaves together personal stakes with powerful, high fantasy conflicts and creatures. The payoff of it all is that by the time you get to the climax, the characters and world feel real. This new edition collects all three volumes in one omnibus with awesome new cover art.A puzzle of a story that slowly, expertly comes together... Originally I intended this review to encompass my thoughts on the third book in The Agartes Epilogues, Sapphire’s Flight. But Sapphire’s Flight isn’t a standalone book, and the more I attempted to gather my thoughts on it, the more I realized it would be equivalent to reviewing only the last third of a book without any mention of the previous chapters. All the way back in Jaeth’s Eye, the first book of the trilogy, we’re introduced to our three main MAIN characters (there are other characters who become almost-main characters – it’s a fairly large cast – but we’ll stick with these three for the moment) Kefier, Sume, and Enosh. The former two are not the type who want to get into your usual fantasy shenanigans. So there’s no staring off at a binary sunset wondering how cool it would be to find out you’re heir to some spiffy Jedi Agan magic. They just want to make it through the typical day to day.A great deal of what happens to our main characters over the course of the series is not important people making big decisions about epic things and wars and sword fights and dragons. Those things are there. They happen, but they happen off-screen for the most part. A lot of what we see is the after-effects of those decisions, a small band of warriors left to face off against a larger army because a Big Decision was made off-screen, and our beloved characters are abandoned and left to pick up the pieces. Now, so far, I’ve been rather vague about things, and that’s on purpose. There are quite a number of reveals in this series, especially in the final book, so I’m treading carefully so as not to SPOILER anything. So let’s try to sum up a few things and do some thought-gathering: This series tries to bite off a lot. There is a tremendous amount of history and world-building on display, but not to the point that I was bored to tears by it. Much of it is deftly woven into the story (one moment that stands out is when a bit of world-building is presented in bedtime story form, which meant I didn’t even realize I’d just seen Villoso’s world expand a little more until later, so smoothly was it presented.)There is a mix of viewpoints, interludes, and prologues, which are all important. When I first read Jaeth’s Eye, I will confess that I was confused at moments because it seemed like there was so much to keep track of, along with a few pacing issues, but as I moved through the book, it all seemed to contract on itself, pulling the various threads together, until I suddenly hit the pay-off and realized just how detailed and well-constructed this world was going to be.With each successive book, Villoso’s skills grow stronger. By the time I arrived at Sapphire’s Flight, her prose had graduated to a beautiful thing. Her characters are flawed, which means that sometimes I wanted to smack them upside the head. But it made them real, and it made me care. And made me cry in bed at one o’clock in the morning when I arrived at the end of the trilogy. It is a solid series. It is a remarkably solid fantasy debut. At its heart, it’s about its characters, caught in the machinations of an epic fantasy world that simply will not leave them be. I look forward to reading more of Villoso’s work, because I suspect she’ll only improve and enthrall more and more with each story she creates.

The Giver Free Pdf

ISBN: B0000YSH4W
Title: The Giver Pdf

The Giver, the 1994 Newbery Medal winner, has become one of the most influential novels of our time. The haunting story centers on twelve-year-old Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. Lois Lowry has written three companion novels to The Giver, including Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son.

A ridiculously dystopian teen novel that gives “Brave New World” a run for its money. I read this along with my ten-year-old when it was assigned in school.Jonas lives in a dystopia disguised as a utopia where everyone is cared for and all has a place. Everything is controlled, from the weather, to the number of births in each community. Every family unit is assigned two children and all jobs are assigned by the committee of elders based on an individual’s strengths and interests. There is no want, no lack or homeless. Crime is all but extinct (as are many animals) and the elder residents are pampered and taken care of until the day of their Release to Elsewhere. The children undergo a strict form of training where emphasis is on manners, precise language and obedience. When Jonas turns twelve he is selected as the new Receiver of Memory. As the Receiver in Training , Jonas’ training consists of taking on all the community’s memories from the outgoing Receiver. Once his training begins, Jonas becomes privy to situations, places, sensations and feelings that has him quickly understanding that nothing is as it seems in his idyllic community. The world he lives in vastly differs from the memories of the Giver, and in some instances, is a flat out lie. As he gains knowledge of concepts such as family holidays, seasons, conflict and even color; Jonas realizes that the Sameness of his community is not ideal; it’s cruel brainwashing When faced with this truth, Jonas realizes that he also now has something that the rest of the community doesn't .... a choice. As far as novels that you must read because you are in school and it’s assigned goes, this is probably one of the better ones. I remember when I was in school all the books we had to read were completely boring it truly is a wonder I love reading after the dreck I was exposed to!Jonas world is bleak and boring. Nobody sees color, everyone is taught to be painfully polite as they go about their lives volunteering at various places, discussing their dreams and feelings all the while being totally naïve to the things that they are missing. At least in the Hunger Games, the folks in District Twelve knew they had it bad… the people in Jonas’ community are like the proverbial frogs in the boiling pot. The Giver has provided quite a few topics of discussion for my son and I as I am sure it has provided for his class and I am sure it will continue to provide in the future. While the Giver is identified as Teen & Young Adult, do not, for one minute believe it is written on an elementary level. The topics that are addressed, either in passing or in greater depth are compelling and thought provoking. Even after I finished this book, I find myself thinking about a person, situation or comment and still being affected. The cliffhanger ending will leave the reader with a mixed feeling of relief and curiosity. As part of a quartet of books by Lois Lowry, I am looking forward to reading more books in this series for more glimpses into dystopia through Lois Lowry’s eyes.Spectacular Book for All Ages Yesterday, I took a road trip with my two daughters to get pick up my 88 year-old grandmother, who will be staying with us through the holiday season. At 5 and 9 years-old, my usual audiobook choices were clearly not an option. So, I found myself listening to some books that definitely are not my usual type, yet again. With over 4 1/2 hours in the car each way, we were able to finish 2 audiobooks from start to finish. By pure coincidence, they both ended up being authored by Lois Lowry. I have never been more engaged in a children's book than I was during this road trip. I was completely lost in these stories, as were my children. The first book that we listened to was 'The Giver'. What a captivating, albeit bleak, fictional world Ms. Lowry has created! I was absolutely spellbound by her storytelling.Set in the future, Jonas lives in a community that has traded their humanity for the illusion of safety. They block anything that would trigger the emotional highs and lows that define a person's life as we now know it. They don't experience the heartache of loss, but they never give in to the joys of life either. They are shells, robotic in their day to day existence and devoid of emotion.Although this is a children's book, it had a feeling eerily similar to George Orwell's '1984'. Independent thinking was non-existent. People "confessed" their thoughts, dreams and rule violations. The presence of the omnipresent leaders in their homes, ruling their lives, was pervasive and all-powerful.Jonas is getting ready to experience the ceremony of 12. This particular ceremony is an important one in the community, a rite of passage into adulthood. It is at this ceremony that each child is assigned their job within the community. They will remain in their assigned role until they are no longer productive and they are "released".Unlike the other children, Jonas is unsure of his calling within the community. He doesn't feel a clear draw to one occupation or another. He is worried of what the future holds for him and he is beginning to notice some unusual things that others do not.Jonas is ultimately assigned a very prestigious role within the community. It is perhaps the most important role in the community, but comes with a tremendous burden. He cannot share his experiences with anyone other than the man that he will be replacing, the current "receiver". As his training progresses, Jonas comes to question everything that he has ever been taught. From beginning to end, this book held my rapt attention. It was beautifully written and thought provoking. 'The Giver' serves as a cautionary tale to the human race, warning of what can become when we censor our very emotions and blot out all of the differences that make us unique individuals. There was plenty of action and suspense along the way. It was also a much more emotional read than I had anticipated. I'll never forget the look on my 9 year-old's face when some of the true meanings of different phrases, like "released", truly sunk in. Don't even get me going on baby Gabe! Luckily, I think most of that went over the head of my 5 year-old.Overall, I thought that this was a spectacular book! It is one that I would not have normally read, but I'm so glad that I did. I can only hope that the lessons learned will resonate with my daughter and the other children that read it. An all-around great story! I'll probably download the next books in the series for our next road-trip to take "Nana" home after the holidays.

Say You'll Stay (Return to Me Book 1) Pdf

ISBN: B01HAQMW48
Title: Say You'll Stay (Return to Me Book 1) Pdf
NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY & WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER

From New York Times Bestseller, Corinne Michaels, comes a new second chance standalone romance.

One word.

Stay.
It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.

That was seventeen years ago.

I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.

Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.

This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken . . .

Not what I expected Based on other reviews, I really thought this was going to be a great book. The foul language was horrible, the sex scenes were terribly graphic and the author droned on and on about the same topics. The length of the story could have been cut in half if the redundant conversations were removed. I was so disappointed that I did not continue reading the story.Corinne Michaels writes the best stories! Corinne Michaels has come up with another winner! Loved this story of Presley and Zach. A story that comes full circle 17 years later of 2 young people in love only to be torn apart by Zach's desire for a baseball career. Presley goes on to marry someone else and has twin boys. Her husband commits suicide and she is forced to go home to her parents ranch. Her despair over her husband and getting on with her life is conflicted with Zach coming back into her life. She feels guilt and other emotions that cause her lots of pain. I loved this book because of its raw emotion and conflict that comes up with her first love reentering her life. We can all identify with the feelings of our first love and what if and Presley actually goes through what maybe we have thought about our first love coming back into our life and what would happen. I thought this story had a lot of depth and character development. I so love this author and look forward to her next book in this series.Holy wow i need more Let me start off by saying I do NOT read contemporary romances. I have just never been able to really get in to them until the last few weeks. I read one a few weeks ago that was awesome and had me wanting to try another. That's when I came across a glowing review for Say You'll Stay. Ok sounds like a good read, let me check this one out.Holy Shhhh. What the heck am I reading? The book starts out with (SPOILER) a suicide. A scene that should be dark and depressing, heartbreak and it truly is. BUT Corinne uses that one scene to manipulate the reader. She writes the words that make you think you want to run away, to throw the book but then she turns it around and has you needing NO wanting to know more. You have to know the whys and how comes and the what the hells. She rips out your heart and then careful with every word she crafts, puts it back together so beautifully. This story will have you scream every profane word you can think of, jumping up and down with joy, as well as laughing and crying tears filled with so much emotion. your heart will break and your heart will soar. Presley is devastated but must keep it together for the sake of her boys. She has to move home even though that's the last place she wants to go because of the memories she has there. She doesn't have a choice but the one good thing is she knows he's not going to be there. Yes she can be a bit whiney but with every thing she has gone through you cant blame the woman.Zack had to move home after being hurt while playing baseball and takes over the running of his family farm. He's moved on with his life and doesn't expect to ever see her again even though his heart will always be hers. Life has a way of throwing a curveball when you least expect it, especially when they run into each other at a bar in the same town. While Zack fights for Presley, she pushes him away at every turn. Can she get passed the pain and destruction in her life and move on? Will she allow herself a second chance at happiness? He wants her but knows he hurt her, can he change her mind about them? Or will he allow her to push him away again? Between the lies and the secrets, can love reemerge or is it just too late?Looking forward to the next one and am currently indulging in Corinne's Seal books. oh my delicious.

Life Together Free Pdf

ISBN: 0060608528
Title: Life Together Pdf The Classic Exploration of Christian in Community
Author: Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Published Date: 1978-10-25
Page: 128

"When I think of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, some words Gorky used of Tolstoy come into my mind--'Look what a wonderful man is living on the earth.'" -- Malcolm Muggeridge, author of Jesus After his martyrdom at the hands of the Gestapo in 1945, Dietrich Bonhoeffer continued his witness in the hearts of Christians around the world. His Letters and Papers from Prison became a prized testimony to Christian faith and courage, read by thousands. Now in Life Together we have Pastor Bonhoeffer's experience of Christian community. This story of a unique fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years reads like one of Paul's letters. It gives practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and groups. The role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work, and Christian service is treated in simple, almost biblical, words. Life Together is bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

In Life Together, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, renowned Christian minister, professor, and author of The Cost of Discipleship recounts his unique fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years in Germany. Giving practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and groups, Life Together is bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

Very Good, But Didn't Live Up to the Hype This book is one I've been meaning to read for years. It has been quoted and referenced in so many other books, sermons, and articles on Christian community. It's densely packed with tons of sweet truths to suck on for hours like a good cough drop. I can definitely understand why it has been so loved, but it just didn't quite live up to all the hype. My expectations were obviously too high. The book is just too short and brief to be a definitive book on Christian fellowship. However, it would be hard to imagine not including these principles and truths when discussing life together in Christ. I liked it a lot and will use this book to train up people in our church because it is short and sweet. An incredibly well written (and I assume well translated) explanation ... An incredibly well written (and I assume well translated) explanation of our (followers of Christ) need of other believers for life to function the way it was designed. Bonhoeffer's insight into what makes the church important to our day to day walk with God, is what makes this book stand out among in spite of the waves of church bettering books that have over-saturated the market in the last few decades. Before anyone reads a book on how the make their church more effective, they ought to read this. In my opinion, it is a quintessential read for anyone aspiring the position of elder or deacon in the church, and maybe just about everybody else who considers themselves a believer in Jesus Christ.and love. This is given that many churches find themselves ... Potentially one of the most important books of modern Christian thought, and this is one of the few books that endeavors to invite Christians into a contemplative life of meditation, work, and love. This is given that many churches find themselves generating artificial, Americanized communities that stand in sharp contrast to the community Christ sought while on earth. An irony is that, rather than point a person away from church and sinners, Bonhoeffer encourages us toward church and sinners. We may not even have the chance to love until we have lived in community, sinned against a brother/sister, and have been forgiven. One is given an opportunity to read what Christianity would be "in context" for Christianity cannot be separated from community and common suffering. This book is for people that want to try living in community in a way that asks more of us all, and for those who also interested in ordering their lives with mediation, scripture, and sharing a common life.

Title: A Discovery of Witches Pdf A Novel

A richly inventive novel about a centuries-old vampire, a spellbound witch, and the mysterious manuscript that draws them together.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries - and she is the only creature who can break its spell.

Debut novelist Deborah Harkness has crafted a mesmerizing and addictive read, equal parts history and magic, romance and suspense. Diana is a bold heroine who meets her equal in vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont, and gradually warms up to him as their alliance deepens into an intimacy that violates age-old taboos. This smart, sophisticated story harks back to the novels of Anne Rice, but it is as contemporary and sensual as the Twilight series - with an extra serving of historical realism.

4.6 stars: A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness Diana, a witch who avoids using magic, is studying alchemical history when she finds an old book covered in magic; she returns the book to the library archives, but witches, vampires, and daemons are all hunting it, some bringing danger for Diana, and others -- especially ancient vampire Matthew -- providing protection and love.(Though reviews are inherently subjective, I prefer to provide some organization to my opinions through the use of a personal rubric. The following notes may contain spoilers.)Plot and Setting: 4.6 -- Plot is engaging from start to finish. Has many unique elements, no major holes, and a sense of focus. Major plot points are dropped or not resolved (cliffhanger). Setting is clear and believable. Timeline is clear and consistent. This is an incredibly detailed world, with interesting creatures, complex politics, and complicated family dynamics, all mixed in with elements of the mundane, ordinary world. There's terror and romance, adventure and personal revelations. It's complicated, and it doesn't resolve, leading directly into the next book, but it is wonderful. And it is clearly a well-planned story, since it is possible to track the days as they pass, from September 18 to October 31.Characters: 5 -- Relatable, realistic, interesting, dynamic characters. Even minor characters have depth, as do the relationships between characters. We meet many, many characters, with their own stories, personalities, creature attributes, and motivations (both benevolent and evil). They are all incredibly well imagined and outlined. Diana's struggle to accept her magic ability, and all that comes with it, makes her very relatable, and I enjoyed her relationships with Matthew, Sarah and Emily, Ysabeau and Marthe, and all her other friends and acquaintances.Mechanics and Writing: 5 -- Few, if any, typos, punctuation issues, or word errors. (<3/100pgs) Intelligent use of POV. Skillful writing that adds to the story. Errors include: compound word and/or homophone confusion, mild punctuation or formatting issues. POV is mainly 1st-person Diana, with some scenes (all or almost all when Diana is not present to narrate) in a sort of universal 3rd-person narrative, dipping into the thoughts of whoever is needed to tell the important details.Redeeming Value: 3.6 -- Partially focused uplifting themes or lessons. Drugs, alcohol, violence, etc, are not glorified, though there is some shaky ground. A few borderline explicit sex scenes. Implied moral guidelines for behavior. No actual sex, though there's lots of kissing and intimate acts of 'bundling' between Diana and Matthew, and other sexual relationships are mentioned. A good deal of violence, which grows bloody and/or deadly more than once. Wine is a big deal, but it's enjoyed responsibly. Vampire politics and morality are apparently different from the human versions, falling more into the medieval, or even bestial. Some witches head that way, too. Lots of power plays, long grudges, etc.Personal Enjoyment: 5 -- I loved it. It made me feel in all the best ways, and leaves me content and satisfied. One I'll definitely read again. An love and hate situation So I don't really know how to really describe this book. A discovery of a witch started so promising by giving a strong, smart and self-sufficient female character in Diana Bishop. Yes Diana is not your typical witch/mortal or biped in love with a mesmerizing vampire that are usually found in romance novels. So I was having a ball reading and I even somewhat found Matthew domeering and old fashioned ways amusing at the start and I may admit even quite charming. And the mystery we are giving at the beginning is quite compelling that you truly want to know what going to happen with these two. Then the scenery change and the characters fall in love and God here comes the disaster. I was appalled by turn the novel took with Diana was slowly morphing into the damsel in distress that plague every others romance novel and Matthew domeering and diresgard of others opinion was not enticing to the naratif anymore. By the end of the novel I much wanting to throw it away because I was left confused and irrated with thousands of questions but no desire to pick up the sequel. But because I do value my own sanity and do not feel the needs to keep wondering about what happened next I will read the next book hopping the author doesn't simply tries to stuff our faces with obsucure snippet of historical facts.
